Since August 2021, the Environment Agency Austria has had a certified quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001:2015.
Four company units have also been operating accredited quality management systems for several years.

Accredited Testing Laboratory for Environmental, GMO and Fuel Analysis
Since its foundation, the Environment Agency Austria has also had its own laboratory capacities. Since 2001, the areas of chemical analysis together with GMO analysis ((genetically modified organisms) have been jointly accredited as a testing laboratory according to the international standard EN ISO/IEC 17025.

Accredited Inspection Body for Emission Inventories
The Environment Agency Austria has been accredited since 2006 as the world's first inspection (monitoring) body for the preparation of a National Greenhouse Gas Inventory. An important component of the Austrian National Inventory System is the quality management system according to EN ISO/IEC 17020.

Accredited Calibration Laboratory for Air Quality
Since 2009, the calibration laboratory for air quality has been accredited for the measurand ozone mass fraction according to the international standard EN ISO/IEC 17025. The accreditation was extended in 2012 to include the mass fraction of nitrogen monoxide, sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide, and in October 2013 to include the measurand volumetric flow.

Accredited proficiency testing for air pollutants and chemical analysis
Since 2017, the Environment Agency Austria has been accredited as a proficiency testing provider for the performance of proficiency tests of gaseous air pollutants according to EN ISO/IEC 17043 at the proficiency testing facility at Handelskai. In 2018, the scope of the accreditation was extended to include proficiency tests for particulate air pollutants, and in 2020 to include chemical analyses within the framework of the proficiency testing programme for water analysis for real samples at the Spittelauer Lände site.
