Environment Agency Austria know-how for Morocco

Vienna, 21. January 2020

Over the next two years, experts from the Umweltbundesamt, the Environment Agency Austria, will support Moroccan authorities in implementing the National Environment Charta.

Geöffnete Brücke

With this Charta, Morocco aims to secure sustainable development and to move closer to European environmental standards. Experts from the Environment Agency Austria will assist them and contribute their know-how, especially in the areas of environmental liability and the implementation of the polluter pays principle (costs for measures to prevent, eliminate and compensate for environmental pollution have to be borne by the polluter). They will also train their Moroccan partners in chemicals and waste management.

The Environment Agency Austria is participating in the project as a junior partner. The French Environment Ministry (Ministère de la Transition écologique et solidaire) is the project leader. The project is financed by funds provided by the European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI).
