The project is aimed to help Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine bring their legislation closer to EU policy in the field of water management, with a main focus on the management of trans-boundary river basins. It supports the development and implementation of pilot river basin management plans, building on the improved policy framework and ensuring a strong participation of local stakeholders.
The overall objective is to improve the management of water resources, in particular of trans-boundary rivers in the EU´s eastern partnership countries through the convergence of national policies and strategies with the EU Water Framework Directive, Integrated Water Resource Management and relevant Multilateral Environmental Agreements.
Services provided
- Development and performance of (field-)trainings in:
- Water sampling, application of various monitoring methods
- Data management, data analysis and assessment methods and visualisation
- Working towards a shared data management and information system
- Collaborative development of tailored guidance documents on the implementation of the WFD and related daughter Directives’ requirements adapted to the regional situation
