In 2015 the Government of Jordan approved its first national solid waste management strategy in order to establish a modern and integrated municipal solid waste management. One of the objectives is to close the dumpsites and replace them with sanitary controlled landfills. There are many potential environmental problems associated with it.
The overall objective of the project is to develop and implement a computerised and web-enabled national monitoring information system for municipal solid waste. The system is intended to facilitate the collection, collation of data and reporting of progress and results in a real time manner. The future system will support the monitoring of the national strategy and of its targets.
