NAMAs and NDCs
Strategies and policies for greenhouse gas mitigation
Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) are aimed at reducing emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) and should be developed and implemented pre-2020. Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) as agreed in the Paris Agreement in December 2015 set out the ambition level of national mitigation policies and should be ambitious and represent a progression over time with the view to achieving the purpose of the Paris Agreement.
Umweltbundesamt (Environment Agency Austria) has extensive experience in both fields, as we are involved in several EU and UN working groups on GHG mitigation and climate change adaptation. We are thus in touch with the latest developments.
Your Challenge
- NAMAs reflect the national GHG emission reduction priorities and have to be developed and implemented until 2020
